Stainless steel 316L V4A & its material properties
Spring steel 316L V4A is very easy to weld. Thanks to the addition of molybdenum and the increased nickel content, the 316L material is characterized by other positive properties, which we will present to you below. Thanks to its properties, stainless steel V4A is suitable for a wide range of applications, for example in the food industry or in environmental and medical technology.
The 316L material
316L stainless steel is known for its corrosion resistance and is used in many ways because of this property. The V4A stainless steel gets its corrosion-resistant properties from the addition of 2 to 2.5% molybdenum. Stainless steel 316L V4A also has a lower carbon content. It has excellent weldability and is also easy to forge. Stainless steel V4A can also be polished. It can be used at low temperatures or up to a maximum temperature of 550 °C (between 120 °C and 250 °C depending on the load).
Sheet V4A – corrosion-resistant, forgeable & suitable for welding
With V4A stainless steel, you are choosing a material that can be processed in a variety of ways. It is resistant to intergranular corrosion and has excellent corrosion resistance in natural environmental media as well as in media with a moderate concentration of chlorine and salt and in the food industry. 316L stainless steel can be slowly heated to be forged in a temperature range between 1150 °C and 1180 °C. The cooling of 316L V4A stainless steel with water or air then takes place quickly. The 316L material can be welded well with and without filler material. Its corrosion resistance is not affected by welding.

Designed for boats from Mahi to Marlins, the XD Bay Series topmount delivers full-size performance in a body designed specifically for bay boats. The XD Bay Series top mount fits all XD world-class Tigress 1-1/8″ carbon or aluminum stems. 24 adjustable positions, 15 of which stay exactly where you want them in 10-degree increments, but retract quickly thanks to the HD spring return. The top arm will move exactly where you want it, with 19 locking positions in 10-degree increments. You won’t have to worry about axles and trailers because the level limiters maximize ground clearance.
The XD top mount is designed for instant deployment, giving anglers precise positioning and making the most of fleeting opportunities. The convenient folding crank handle features a built-in drive brake for quick release of the legs, and the head pivot with a stainless steel and bronze bushing ensures maximum strength and durability. The upper arm is also easy to operate and features a ball bearing drive system with a counterbalanced spring. Combined, these two positions offer 24 adjustable/locking positions with the Tigress XD 316L stainless steel locking tooth design, including work and lying position stops, as well as eight selectable, user-indexable mounting positions.
The XD top crank mount features a heavy-duty top plate, shoulder and housing that allows use of all Tigress XD 1-1/2″ butt diameter legs (and 1-1/8″ butt diameter XD legs with adapters) up to 22. foot. The unique ergonomic, mirror-polished 316 stainless steel reversible handle provides sufficient clearance for soft and hard awnings over 2 inches thick and is designed for boats up to 50 feet in length. It fits through all standard 3″ diameter mounting plates and hardtop openings.
The XD Bay Series Top Mount and XD Crank Top Mount are compatible with Tigress and other industry standard 4″ x 6″ mounting plates using four 5/16″ diameter fasteners. Each product features a fully sealed design made from heavy-duty 316L stainless steel and anodized aluminum that will last for generations and is UV protected.
