The Ministry of Water Resources launched level-IV emergency response for flood prevention in the three provinces of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Ning

On August 24, some parts of northern Ningxia, southern eastern Inner Mongolia, central and eastern Shanxi and other places fell moderate to heavy rain, and some parts fell heavy rain to heavy rain. It is forecast that from August 25 to 27, the eastern and central parts of Shaanxi, central and northern Shanxi and other places will have heavy rain to heavy rain, the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River and other rivers will appear swollen process, some small and medium-sized rivers in the rainstorm area may occur over the alarm flood, small and medium-sized reservoirs and silting DAMS safety flood, mountain areas of mountain flood disaster risk is greater.

Li Guoying, deputy commander of the National Defense chief and Minister of Water Resources, called for close monitoring of the heavy rainfall process, strengthening monitoring and forecasting and consultation, and making preventive responses in advance. The Ministry of Water Resources will hold rolling consultations day by day, analyze and judge the development trend of rain and flood conditions, and make targeted arrangements for the deployment of rainstorm and flood prevention work. According to the Working Regulations of the Ministry of Water Resources on Flood and Drought Disaster Prevention and Emergency Response, the Ministry of Water Resources initiated level-IV emergency response for flood prevention in Shanxi, Shaanxi and Ningxia provinces at 12:00 on August 25, and maintained level-IV emergency response for flood prevention in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, requiring local water conservancy departments and relevant basin management agencies to closely monitor the rain and flood situation. Strengthen consultation, analysis and judgment, timely release of early warning information, scientific and precise operation of water projects, focusing on the safety of reservoirs and silting DAMS, embankment inspection and defense, and small and medium-sized river flood and mountain flood disaster prevention, and in areas where there are risks such as scenic spots, farmhouses and construction sites in rainstorm areas, local governments are promptly asked to do a good job in advance of the evacuation of people from danger areas. Ensure the safety of people’s lives and property.

The Ministry of Water Resources has sent an additional working group to the flood control front in Ningxia. At present, the Ministry of Water Resources has a total of five working groups in Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi and Ningxia to help guide rainstorm flood prevention work.
