Bent and formed stainless steel tubing is used in a variety of applications, including:
- Manifold assemblies for the transportation industry
- Hydraulic fluid supply lines for industrial purposes
- Bumpers to protect OEM products
- Housing for water monitoring systems
- Tubular handles used in OEM instruments and machinery.
Chinese factories are trying to raise prices for hot-rolled steel in the GCC market. However, buyers prefer Indian material in terms of price and shorter delivery times. Callanish learned that South Korean factories are eyeing the GCC market, and that Hyundai Steel plans to visit the region in the coming days.
Last week, an Indian mill struck a major pipe deal at an average price of $640/t in the United Arab Emirates.
Indian mill offers this week for SPHT-2 and SS400 2mm+ boron grades are priced at $630-640/tonne, while SAE 1006 rolled steel grades for September shipments are $650-660/tonne CFR GCC . . Chinese grades SS400 and SAE 1006 2mm+ are also available at $650-660/t CFR for late September shipment/end October delivery.
On the other hand, SAE 1006 2mm+ from the South Korean plant is offered at $670/t, which is a kind of compromise for a firm offer for shipment in September. All quotes are based on CFR GCC ports.
In the UAE, the buyer also received an offer for a minimum of 2,000 t of 0.34-0.97 mm grade SPCC/1B cold rolled (CRFH) grade 0.34-0.97 mm (CRFH) from China at a price of USD 700 per tonne in the UAE for shipment in September . Last week, buyers ordered 500t lots of Chinese 2mm+ DX51D galvanized coil for September shipment at $810/t CFR Jebel Ali. Indian and Korean mills are offering the same material at US$950/t on Jebel Ali terms for September shipment.
The market in Saudi Arabia is sluggish, prices have not changed since last week. Attempts by Chinese steel mills to raise prices are futile. Buyers prefer Egyptian material because it is exempt from import duties in Saudi Arabia.
The Chinese and Egyptian mills are reported to be offering 1.2mm SPHT-1 hot rolled steel for September deliveries at $730/t and $735/t in Jeddah, respectively. Chinese offers for Saudi Arabia’s east coast are $710 per tonne in Dammam.
The only hot rolled coil manufacturer in Saudi Arabia is known to offer base grade SPHT-1 3 mm hot rolled coil for October rolling at $770 per ton delivered to customers’ warehouses.
